Q: What got you into doing what you do?

My journey into supporting fertility through Chinese medicine and acupuncture began with my personal experience. In my early twenties, I worked in a Japanese IT company. The work load was very heavy and I felt exhausted constantly until one day I was sent to the ED and been diagnosed with acute nephritis. After six months of treatment there were no improvement, so my specialist suggested no marriage or pregnancy in the future because that might further damage my kidney function. It was a such a big shock and I was really desperate. My parents then took me to seek help from traditional Chinese Medicine.

Since it was my last option, I followed my practitioner strictly by receiving acupuncture and Herbal Medicine treatment every week, as well as changing my diet, exercise routine and lifestyles. I felt myself getting stronger and stronger, physically and mentally. Three years later I got married and now I have a nice family with two beautiful kids. When my second one was 1 year old, I started my study in RMIT University of Chinese Medicine and acupuncture for 5 years, including half year placement in China. During my studying time, I discovered the rich history of using acupuncture and herbal medicine to support fertility. Driven by my own experience and intrigued by the potential of these modalities to address the root causes infertility, I decided to devote my focus to this area. After completing my formal education, I started my practice and  began witnessing the transformative power of TCM and acupuncture in supporting fertility.

Q: What interests or even fascinates you about your field?

TCM takes a holistic approach to health, considering the interconnectedness of the body, mind, and spirit. When it comes to fertility, TCM aims to address not just the physical aspects but also emotional and lifestyle factors that may impact a person’s ability to conceive. This comprehensive approach is fascinating because it recognises the importance of overall well-being in the journey towards fertility.

While the other reason is seeing the joy and gratitude in the eyes of my patients when they held their long-awaited babies in their arms filled me with a profound sense of purpose.

Q: What do you like doing when you are not at work?

After work I like spending time with my kids, a 11 year old boy and a 9 year old girl. We read books and play games together. They have an iceskating lesson every week and I feel so relax and peaceful when watching them skating.

I do Chi-Gong for 30 minutes every morning to build my Qi and strengthen my muscles. Ba Duan Jin is my favourite practice, which is really nice and peaceful.

I enjoy attending seminars, and engaging in ongoing research to refine my understanding of fertility-related TCM practices.
